Funeral for my great uncle Jack
Yesterday my family gathered together to celebrate the life of my Great Uncle in a funeral service. He was a wonderful man with a jovial personality and a strong love for his family, myself included.
When I first arrived with my brother we meet my Uncle and Aunt. I felt elated to see my family again and a deep sense of belonging. My Uncle who is bound to move around with an electric scooter reminded us that this is not the pig roast which is our normal family reunion which normally happens ever two years pre pandemic. Thankfully it was announced later that next summer there would be another pig roast. Praise the Lord I say. I love to see my family. I am glad my great uncle said this to me as it helped me to keep in my mind the solidarity of the occasion.
After an hour or so of meeting and socializing there was a service which was performed by my Mother because she studied theology although she was never ordained it was my family’s wish’s that she conduct the service which turned out to be wonderful.
There was talk of Jesus and how Uncle Jack had a deep faith in him and the salvation which can be found through him. John 3:16 was read as well as Psalm 46 and 23. There was a woman who played the key board to which everyone sang a Welsh lullaby.
Later members of the family shared their experiences and fond memories of Great Uncle Jack. After the service we had a meal and spoke more the deceased.
My feelings of this get together were the strong importance of this family on my life, despite the vast geographic distances and long stretches of time between meeting in person. I am left thankful and humbled by the love everyone has shown me and continues to show me despite my struggles and my economic inferiority.
I believe that I can overcome these difficulties I face and some day strive. And I know there are people out there who are wishing me the best. For all of this I am grateful.
Good bye Uncle Jack, I look forward to seeing you again.
This is a very nice reflection on our time together to say goodbye to Uncle Jack. We have a strong bond on our family and you captured the sentiments very well. We are blessed.
